Strategic Plan 2025

Vision: 

To be a premiere resource for every Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals serving in government roles; to maximize professional advancement, leadership and success in government careers.

Mission: 

Deaf in Government (DIG)’s mission is to: 

  • Empower Deaf and Hard of Hearing government employees, contractors, and applicants through robust networking, training and career opportunities;
  • Support government institutions by providing strategies and insights to maximize recruitment and retention of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals; and  
  • Advocate for better regulations, technology and resources to enhance accessibility and career growth for Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees, contractors, and applicants. 

How will we achieve this? 

Serve as a resource for government employees, contractors and applicants at the federal, state, county and local levels by: 

  • Assisting agencies with recruiting, hiring and retention of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals;
  • Identifying training opportunities to enhance members’ professional skills;
  • Educating members on their rights and advocating for improved workplace accessibility; and
  • Providing volunteer opportunities for members with networking, professional development and leadership growth. 

What can you do to help? 

In 2025, DIG continues its commitment to RECONNECT, REGROW, and REBUILD;

  • RECONNECT with members, sponsors and allies to strengthen our community and support system;
  • REBUILD relationships with partners to expand resources and advocacy efforts;
  • REGROW our organization, ensuring long-term sustainability and providing members with up-to-date resources, policy insights, and government connections.

With your support, we are committed to making Deaf in Government stronger than ever.

Who can join?

DIG welcomes federal, state, county and local government employees as well as retired government employees and government contractors at all levels.  This includes individuals involved with public education and other fields supporting government functions. 

We also invite allies of Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees to join our organization.  Allies are welcome to contribute their expertise, insights and knowledge to further DIG’s mission; and benefit from DIG’s resources and experience. 

Sponsors play a vital role in supporting DIG’s initiatives.  We welcome sponsors to be visible supporters of DIG events, including the National Training Conference (NTC), the Holiday Party and other events. By working together, we can create a more inclusive, accessible and supportive environment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees.
